About the Service

Protocol! is an online service for conducting fencing practice bouts and small competitions. It is available in two formats: “Practice” — for training bouts and internal sparring, and “Tournament” — for organizing and running competitions. The system is designed for organizers, referees, clubs, athletes, and spectators, and covers all key stages of an event — from the initial list of participants to publishing protocols and results in real time.

Beta Testing

The service is currently in active beta testing. We are constantly improving it, so errors, inaccuracies, or temporary failures are possible. If you encounter a problem or notice an issue, please let us know at support@fencing.ru. This helps us make the service better.

Disclaimer

By using the service during the beta testing stage, you acknowledge that it is provided “as is” and that you use it at your own risk, and the developers are not responsible for any possible data loss or other consequences related to its use.

Service Features

The service operates in two main formats: “Practice” — with basic functions for conducting training bouts, and “Tournament” — with an extended set of tools for fully running competitions.

Practice

  • allows you to quickly and conveniently run practice bouts,
  • fully replaces the paper protocol,
  • instant calculation of results,
  • full freedom of action, just like with the paper protocol,
  • simultaneous input of results into a single protocol from multiple devices,
  • instant online update of results.

Tournament

  • publish start lists before the tournament begins,
  • distribute groups according to FIE rules,
  • assign bouts to pistes and time slots, and assign referees to bouts,
  • generate paper versions of protocols for referees when necessary,
  • record results in real time,
  • automatically generate PDF protocols,
  • publish results online for spectators.

All data is stored in one place and is available at any time.

Why This Service Was Created

Initially, the service solved a narrow practical task — digital scoring for practice bouts with shared access to result input. As users began to use it more actively, their requests became broader and the tasks more complex. Step by step, the tool for practice evolved into a full-fledged platform for running tournaments.

Organizing fencing competitions is always associated with a large amount of manual work:

  • tables and brackets,
  • lists of participants,
  • piste assignments,
  • recording results,
  • printing protocols,
  • constant changes and adjustments “on the fly.”

The Protocol! service is being developed to bring order to these processes, reduce the number of errors, and simplify the work of the entire refereeing team and organizers.

Project Development

The Protocol! service is constantly evolving:

  • new tournament management tools are added,
  • the interface is improved,
  • new tournament formats are introduced,
  • performance is optimized for large competitions.

Each new feature added to the service is designed to be simple and convenient, better than any previous solutions — exactly as it should be.

Goal

To build a unified digital ecosystem for fencing, where all processes — from daily training to major competitions — are connected within a single space of data and tools. We see the service as a working environment for interaction between athletes, coaches, referees, clubs, federations, and spectators, not just as a tournament platform.

Our goal is to support the full lifecycle of an athlete: training, progress tracking, participation in events, accumulation of statistics, performance analysis, and tracking of personal achievements. At the same time, to provide clubs and organizations with management, reporting, and coordination tools, and federations with transparent analytics and a unified data base.

We strive for a model where all digital fencing processes converge in one place: data flows seamlessly, interaction between participants becomes direct and clear, and any tasks are solved easily and efficiently.

Mission

To help the fencing community work calmly and confidently: to train, compete, analyze results, and develop without paper bureaucracy, data loss, or fragmented services. We reduce unnecessary coordination and routine, move processes into a digital environment, and thereby treat resources more carefully — saving people’s time, materials, and venue energy. We make technology invisible and processes reliable so that the focus always remains on the sport, the people, and the result.
